So, I thought I was all set in this challenge without store bought bread. With the help of my Freecycled bread machine, we were going to be just fine.We were, until I ran out of bread flour.
"Drat!" I said to myself (not really, I said something much more un-Christianlike), but quickly rebounded, figuring I'd just use All-Purpose flour.
They call bread flour "bread flour" for a reason. I don't know the science behind what happened in my bread machine, but the results? Well, they aren't pretty.
Oh, and I used 3 cups of my last bag of All-Purpose flour, so now I'm even worried about that. At this point, not even 1/3 of the way into my challenge, I have to be super aware of not wasting anything... especially, ESPECIALLY baking stuff.
Wow- this cook and bake from scratch thing that I've happened upon- it's not easy. Let me give a click of my non-existent high heels to all the bread baking, pearl wearing, house cleaning, husband-foot-rubbing housewives before me- much respect to you, ladies:
Oh, dinner tonight will be eggplant parm- here's the recipe I used. I cut the recipe in half (and ironically, left out the parmesan cheese- ran out.).

Need to start stocking up on your whole wheat and get a wheat grinder! You will love it and save it in the long run. Your sisters mormon buddies can help you out with that! Love your blog it is my fav. I don't know how I stumbled on it. But I faithfully look at it everyday!
What happened? Was it my recipe?
Hey Mrs F- It was, but I really think it was my lack of bread flour.
BTW, I used your bag in bag technique- MARVELOUS!!!!
