So is it worth the time?

I got a little behind on my coupon clipping this week.

Usually, I do it on Sunday morning with a cup of coffee and free child care (my husband).

This week, Sunday wasn't happening (46 people, 2 dogs, and a mess took over my house for my daughter's baptism), so I kind of let it slide.

I'm doing it today. As in now. While my kids sleep. Ugggggghhhhhhh. Using precious nap time clipping and organizing coupons. Sometimes it's a drag. But it is NOT a waste of time.

I figure that on average, I spend an hour and a half a week planning, clipping, and organizing. When you're a mom with two minis, 90 minutes is a lot. But, I figure I earn about $50+ an hour doing it.

See, before I clipped coupons, I used to spend between $150-$200 a week on groceries. Now, I spend between $50 and $100.

So is clipping coupons a drag? Sometimes. But is it worth it? I think $50 an hour is a pretty good rate!

How cool! I found your sister's blog when you posted about it in our EC on IV last year(that thread that was pulled, which I think was soooo unfair). I have been following her ever since...

I'm glad she mentioned you in her new post!! I'm looking forward to reading more!

ok I posted on facebook too, but Katy, this is awesome. I used to clip and do the double coupons/etc but got away from it when my hubby went on Atkins. Now that I have a 3 year old son who DOES use the products in the circular, WHY AM I WASTING MY MONEY!?!?!?!?!
Thank you for bringing me back!!!

LOL Becky, and with my extra cash, I just supported my local Mary Kay lady!

Check out my first week of posts- there's a post about were to find coupons.

But yes, the newspaper is a good start. Go for home delivery- sometimes you can get an intro rate! (OK, I admit it, I cancel and resubscribe to the Boston Globe to get the intro rate every 12 weeks...).
