Allow me to clarify...

I just got off the phone with my sister Amy. She has decided to go full speed ahead with the coupon cutting and called me for a little consultation. I listened as she thumbed through her pile, trying to match coupons with her Rite-Aid circular.

"Look Katy! Contact solution is on sale and I have a coupon!"

Amy doesn't wear contacts. Her vision is fine. Her husband wears glasses, but not contacts. I asked Amy why she had clipped such a dumb coupon.

She told me, and I quote, "You told me to clip every single coupon I see!"

Um, no Amy... I told you to look at every coupon, and if it is something you would use if it were very inexpensive or free, then clip it. Somehow this was very confusing to my poor sister.

So let me clarify for everyone out there with a list of questions to ask yourself when clipping...

1. Do I use this product?
YES-----> Clip.

NO-----> Read on.

2. Would I have a use for this product if it were very inexpensive or free?
YES----> Clip.
NO----> Read on.

3. Would I be interested in donating this product to a shelter or food pantry if it were very inexpensive or free?
YES----> Clip.
NO----> Don't Clip it.

So should you clip every coupon in the paper? Of course not. I will never ever ever clip a hot dog coupon. I hate hot dogs. Even if the store paid me, I don't want to hold hot dogs. End of story.
(If anyone reading likes hot dogs though, there is a coupon in the insert in front of me. I'll clip it for you and mail it... which probably negates the savings, but whatever. I'm just that committed.)
