Tomorrow, I resolve to get back on track with budgeting and keeping track of where I spend my money. For a couple of months, I did this REALLY well, but it all fell apart in December... and let me tell ya, it shows. Right now, I have NO idea how much is in the bank, because I have not been keeping track- I'm willing to bet I over did it this month. I don't like this feeling... sort of crazy and out of control. Makes me want to go to Marshall's and spend too much while eating Dunkin' Donuts munchkins... NOT a good combo.
So tomorrow, I'm back on track.
I use Pear Budget. It's an online budgeting program- super duper easy and cheap... they even give you a free trial month. Enter monthly expenses to make a basic budget, then enter receipts over the course of the month. To make it easy on us, I'll leave a basket on our foyer table for receipts- that way, Rob and I can just empty our wallets and move on with our days.
We're also going to go on a cash mostly diet this month. Each week, I'll go to the ATM and withdraw our grocery money, family money, and a small allowance for each of us. When the cash is gone, it's gone. Using cash makes me a much better saver. I HATE to part with my cash. I will use our debit card for gas though. I will not pull both kids out of their car seats to pay- that's crazy. :)
So tomorrow is a new day. Back to healthy spending and saving. I'm not giving up the munchkins, though. :)
