Hold up. Wait a minute.

OK... I just got REAMED OUT by my sister for not being clear enough in my posts about how to use the rebate programs at Rite-Aid and Walgreens. Apparently, she feels pressure to get each and every item she needs for free. I honestly just heard her tell her son, "We don't have any food. Sorry you're hungry. Auntie didn't tell me how to get it for free."

Oh. My. Goodness.

OK friends- here's the deal. It does take a little time to build up a good supply of coupons and a decent stock of food so that you can focus on JUST buying bargains. Honestly, it took me a good 3-6 months.

So DON'T GET DISCOURAGED. Let's just take it one step at a time.

In the comments section, please leave a question, comment, or frustration. It can be anything. Not to sound like an elementary school teacher, but no question is dumb... except for some of my sister's.

I'll start the dumb questions: how do I find out which stores in my area will double or triple coupons? I've never heard of this before and even though I've used coupons in the past, I've never had them doubled or tripled. Is this in certain areas only?

Hey Laura-

I think the best way to find out is to give the customer service desk a call and ask for their policy. Check your receipt- for me, coupons were doubling and I didn't realize it!

All of our grocery stores double coupons up to .99. The drug stores don't double.

When I started I started with CVS, moved onto Shaws(grocery store), then onto Wags and then Rite Aid. Do not try to get all stores at once you will get burnt out :)

Just tried the three grocery stores closest to me - none of them even knew what double coupons WERE, and they acted like I was crazy for asking. When I tried to explain, they were like "no, it's one coupon per person." I guess I'm out of luck :(

Laura, What grocery stores do you have near you?

Gristedes, Western Beef, Trader Joe's, Jubilee Marketplace, Balducci's, Food Emporium are the ones I've tried. (I live in New York City).

Okay, your post on MSM about not buying anything in February reeled me in ;) Now I'm off to browse your archives!

We don't have any place that doubles here on a regular basis either. Occasionally one of them runs a special for a weekend for it but it's rare :( I wish I had a place that did that all the time.
