I'll ask (again) in advance for forgiveness if I spew off common knowledge here.
The library has got it going ON. It's got books AND more. :)
We don't buy books anymore.
We go to our library. Actually- that's a lie. We LOG ON to our library. We search the book we want- and if our library doesn't have it, they get it sent from another local library. Same with DVDs. It's terrific. They email me when our book or DVD is in, and I go pick it up. We have to use patience, but we don't have to use money (except when I forget to return stuff on time- DOAT!)
We get free and discounted museum passes.
GOOD ones. Again, we log on and reserve the pass for the day we want it. Considering some of the museums in Boson are $20 a person, this was happy news to me.
The library has free story hours,
and I met a ton of awesome stay at home parents there. We started hanging out and our story hour has evolved into a butt kickin' playgroup (the kids play- we hang out and drink coffee- it's great!)
So free books, movies, museums, AND friends?! Who WOULDN'T want to chill at the library?!

Thanks for spreading the word about libraries! I'm currently in school getting my Master's so I can be a children's librarian.
Also, I love all your blogs, but this one has especially inspired me and helped me save lots of $! Thanks!
I don't know about your library but the Ann Arbor library (which pretty much rocked the house... and I miss it since our new one sucks) let you check out magazines. It was awesome. I could go get all the magazines I ever wanted and it cost nothing... and no piles of outdated issues taking over the basement anymore either!
Also we could check out DVDs and CDs for free. Mr F must have uploaded about a 1000 CDs into our iTunes. Again all free.
You know what you need to keep an eye out for - Library Book Sales! We go to the Weymouth ones and the kids paperback books are 10 cents each and kids hardcovers are 25 cents. AWESOME!!!! Some books are brand spanking new too! Probably just spent years on someone's bookshelf.
We love it because we can go to the NE Aquarium for 20 dollars rather then almost 100!!
and Petco is a free zoo for the littlest ones:)))
