Wow- this is a sign of MY TIMES.

Right now, my hair is sopping wet- with Natural Instincts hair color... #9N- Dark Neutral Blonde.

Last time I was in this situation, I was 17, the color was jet black. It did not come out in 28 washes as the box promised.

Since my teenage coloring escapades, I've become more of the sit in a salon chair, pay $120 fr a highlight type... even if it was a twice a year luxury.

Well, we can't afford it anymore. Not twice a year, not even less frequently.

Oh- and those two kids? They made my hair change color- seriously... it used to be dark blonde- it's now a (not pretty) dingy brown.

I tried to get used to it, but I don't like it.

So that's how Natural Instincts reentered my life. I bought the box with my Walgreens Register Rewards- so it was free.

Oh! 10 minutes is up! I'd better go see what free bought me. I'm not expecting much- I know I get what I pay for.

If it's terrible and we know each other in real life, just pretend not to notice, OK?

Katy, I have become very friendly with the hair color boxes too! I think they do a great job! With all girls in the family, no one really knows what their real hair color is!

Honestly I'm in love with box hair color. It's fairly cheap if you wait for a sale. If you have thick hair and it falls past your shoulders you need two boxes though.

I've been pretty much every color under the sun out of a box and only going blonde was a bad idea that way. I'm naturally REALLY dark brown so it turned out orange :( Otherwise if you go within a couple shades of your own it's a good thing.

So what was the final verdict? Was the boxed hair color worth it?

I use the salon applied every 12 weeks or so brand - it costs about $45 so I think it evens out with the do-it-yourself - either that or my little salon here in North Central Mass is more realistically priced than yours. If I didn't do this, I'd have a halo of white all around my face (not that I don't deserve it!)

Hi. I think I know what you're referring to with the black hair dye ;-)
