Old habits die hard- Time to break out the ice trays...

OK, So I have this little addiction. It flares up every spring. I try to keep it under control all summer long, and it finally subsides when the weather cools down.

I estimate that at its peak, this addiction cost me between $300-400 a year.

It's iced coffee. How embarrassing.

The issue has already started up this year. I'll think, "Oh- it's no big deal- it's just ONE iced coffee..." then the friendly lady at Dunkin' Donuts grins as she takes my $2.25. Well, $2.67. I can't get out of Dunks without buying each kid a Munchkin.

The next day, it's easier to justify to myself. "Oh, I'll stop tomorrow. What's one more?" I hand over my $2.67 again, and I'm now out $5.28.

I did this 6 or 7 times last week. I wish I was joking. I know, it's $16 or $17 in the grand scheme of things, but if I don't get this under control soon, it will add up in a serious way.

So it's time to take charge. I'm making my own iced coffee starting now. Like literally, now. There's a pot brewing and I just filled the stupid ice cube trays. I'll rescue a few plastic iced coffee cups from the recycle bin, wash them out, and reuse them. Because iced coffee just doesn't taste as good unless it's through a straw from a spiffy plastic Dunks cup.

Tell me I'm not the only one with a dumb money-sucking addiction. Got one you want to kick? Leave it in the comments section- we can have our own little online support group.

I live about 50 paces from a gas station...a quick buck for 32oz of Diet Pepsi afternoon pick me up goodness...it adds up fast!

I freeze my own coffee and do coffee blends. WAY cheaper. Good luck!

Mine would be Redbox movies. I think to myself, "It's only $1.06." But then I forget to take it back the next night and it jumps to $2.12 and so on. And then when I return it I have to get another one while I'm already there.

Fortunately, I overcame this habit when I signed up to get a free movie every Mon. BUT today they sent a text to say they are only offering a free movie code the first Mon of the month now :(

Diet Coke! I switched to Crystal Light. I miss the easy portability of the cans though.

Starbucks. Total waste of money, luckily I hate driving and the nearest is about 8-10 minutes away. But even at 2-3 times a week, it's a HUGE waste!

Mine is Sugar free Red Bull. I love this stuff and down about 3-4 a week...and those suckers arent cheap.

I'm trying out switching to home-brewed Iced Green tea...which I also love...but doesnt give me the fuzzy bubbles and energy buzz that I love so much.

We can overcome our expensive addictions right???

It used to be Starbucks, but then we got a Starbucks Duetto Visa, which is a VISA AND a Starbucks card. For every $1 you spent you earn 1% back to spend at Starbucks. We use the card for all big purchases and only go to SB when we have $ on the card. Let me just say that grad school earned us a lot of much-needed coffee!

I guess mine would be fast food (I know that's terrible for alot of reasons). I LOVE iced coffee too! I get a large one from BK for like $2.09. Starbucks has a cup now that looks just like the plasic ones. It's insulated and the straw and everything is hard plastic. They're buy 1 get 1 half off right now, but I think they're like $12
:-(

Starbucks. Soy milk and a drive through. We just moved and had a non-functioning kitchen, so I was eating meals from there too... not so good for the budget.
