A Little Tale of Disappointment (A Personal Rant by Katy)

Allow me to complain a bit...

OK, So usually I LOVE Shaw's Supermarket. Like REALLY love Shaw's.

But last night, we had a difficult moment in our relationship.

I was at the store near my school- I don't usually shop there. But hey, I was without kids and I had a precious 15 minutes, so I figured why not- cross something off my list.

I was going through the self checkout because the regular lines were crazy long. For whatever reason, my printable coupons weren't scanning. The helper lady told me they were no good and wouldn't accept them. Then, because my total dropped (without my printable items), she wouldn't accept my store coupons.

I told her, "Wow. Usually the staff member just keys in coupons that don't scan."

"They're not supposed to," she replied blankly. She then gave me a little lesson in coupon useage. "You have to read the fine print," she said.

I sighed, and held my tongue- dude... that hurt my pride. I know coupon rules.

I don't usually throw it out there, but I used my food pantry line... "Um, maybe they give me the benefit of the doubt because I shop for the food pantry?"

No response.

So I left all of my good deals and walked out. Sacred 15 minutes? Gone. I should have just gone to Dunks and gotten a coffee. Bummer dude.

I've said it before, I'll say it again. I don't do coupon fraud. I know they have to be careful because some people do, but I don't.

Oh well, I'll get over it. I guess I should stick to the store I'm familiar with.
