So this time, I did it a little differently...

When I cleaned out my expired coupons last month, I let my kids play in them. Fun? Yes. Messy? You bet! Useless? I guess.

Marie left a comment after that post suggesting I donate my expired coupons to the Overseas Coupon Program. This is a great service- we send our old coupons (up to 2 months past their expiration date) to a military base of our choice. Our old coupons are then put to good use by military families around the world, (they can use them for 6 months past their expiration date).

This seems easy enough. Military families do so much for us, and often don't get a whole lot in return. It's just not that hard for me to take my unused coupons to the post office instead of my recycling bin.

When we lived in Iceland this program helped us so much. That base has since closed. It was so expensive to live overseas at the time. On behalf of whatever base you chose, thanks a bunch!

Thank you for doing something for military families. It is nice to feel appreciated.

Yeah! I'm glad that you are doing this! We sent our first bunch off last month and my SIL is reporting that they are being put to good use in Germany!

I was in the military for 6 years and didn't even know this program existed! ;) What a great thing! I'll have to start doing this as I toss A LOT of coupons! I learned to use coupons a lot in a military commissary so hopefully we can help out a bunch of new military wives (and husbands...)!! Thanks for sharing!

You're amazing! Not only do you clip coupons to take care of your own family.. but you also use coupons to load up your local shelter. And now, to help families who are serving our country! You're inspiring!

I used a coupon the other day at the grocery store and thought I was making some headway, lol... so far to go :)

What a great idea, Katy. We also put less in our landfills.
