Guest Post:How to Get Fat for Almost Nothing!

This week marked my personal debut into the vast and glitzy world of couponing. So far I've learned three things
1) Coupons really are worth it.
2) Coupons aren't so hard to use.
3) Coupons are gonna give me an ass the size of Texas.

Let me back up for a minute, and guide you though this step by step:

SUNDAY:
On Sunday afternoon, I bought a copy of the Boston Globe (Mormons, fear not, I did not break the Holy Sabbath, for I purchased my newspaper from an Angel of the Most High--her name was Deborah and she works at Cumby's). I removed the coupon section from the middle of the paper and began clipping for my savings, just like my sister told me to do.

I'd estimate that I cut approximately 350 coupons. What can I say? It's Super Bowl week and there's nothing in the universe that I love more than some frozen appetizers--taquitos, pizza rolls, bagel bites, mini-weenies...I could go on and on.

MONDAY:
On Monday, the Rite Aid circular landed in my mailbox. As I flipped though, I noticed two sales that matched my coupons--Ritz Crackers and Chex Mix.

Ritz were on sale 2/$5 and the Chex Mix was buy one get one free. My Ritz coupon was $2 off when you buy two boxes, the my Chex Mix coupon was $1 off when you buy two bags.

I was busting out of my pants in excitement, so I screamed up to my husband, "I'm buying some snacks, sucker!"

TUESDAY:
On Tuesday I executed the deal. The Ritz went just as planned--I paid $3 for two boxes. Considering the fact that each box is normally prices at $3.99, that was a savings of $4.98.

And the Chex Mix deal? Well that went even better than anticipated because the bag had an extra little peel-off instant coupon stuck to it for 50 cents off two bags. Got that? So I paid $2.99 for one bag, got the second one for free, and saved $1.50 off of both. That means I got two bags of Chex Mix for $1.50. That's a total savings of $4.48.

TUESDAY AFTERNOON:
Used my extra $9.46 (that was my total savings) to buy a cute little hat for my dog.

TUESDAY NIGHT:
Ate an entire bag of Chex Mix by myself, equalling a caloric intake of 1120.

WEDNESDAY MORNING:
Ate an entire sleeve of Ritz Crackers by myself, equalling a caloric intake of 700.

With a keen eye and a razor sharp strategy, I'm hoping that I'll be able to save enough money to cover the $400 deposit for fat camp this summer.

Uh, yeah, Amy, only you could take one of those (boring, but informative) coupon-deal posts and make me laugh!

Don't worry, I'm one of those mormons, and I do stop and buy my papers on Sunday. Ssh!
