Well, $49.20. I didn't notice until I got home that I was overcharged for some frozen veggies, so it should have been $46.20, but I was chatting at the register and missed the error. Oh well. I love bargains, but $3.00 just isn't worth hauling the kids out in the rain again. Sunny, that would be a different story. :)
Now some of the authors of the blogs I shared yesterday could probably score all these groceries for like $1.32, but I still think I did OK.
Just in case you can't see, that's:
11 packs of frozen veggies
6 boxes of cereal
8 packages of goldfish crackers
4.25 lbs of boneless skinless chicken breast
a whole chicken
2 bags of salad
a 5 lb bag of potatoes
a 5 lb bag of apples
a lb of carrots
2 packages of mushrooms
5 lbs of clementines
2 lbs of onions
a frigload of bananas
3 containers of sour cream
pizza dough
a dozen eggs
I had to go to 2 stores, but I think it was worth it.

That was a combo of Roxie's and Star Market. The fruit and chicken was Roxie's. If you haven't been there yet, SOOOO worth the trip!

In a future post would you tackle the subject of name brand stuff...what will you compromise on what won't you? I am a name brand junkie: Tide, Bounce....you get it. How can I get over this? I know I would save a bundle. In otherwords, it is the non-food items that really kill me budget-wise.

My sister once bought over $250 worth of groceries at Vons and spent less than $10 and got change back after she used the loyalty card, employee rebate gift cards ($25 for every $500 she spent in the form of a gift card)and coupons. And it was all name brand food bought right before Thanksgiving. We also shop at the drug stores like Longs, Walgreens, and CVS for awesome deals also.
